Unicorn Shift into High Gear with Defiant Rock Track ‘Sweet Ride’

Perth four-piece Unicorn are charging ahead in 2026 with their blistering new track, ‘Sweet Ride’. Known for their blend of heavy riffage and cathartic songwriting, the West Coast indie-grunge outfit deliver a surge of physical energy that feels both raw and instantly memorable.

The track kicks off with sharp, punchy guitars and driving rhythms before opening up into moments of pure, euphoric release. It builds on the momentum of a massive 2025—which saw the release of standout tracks like ‘Wonderful Wonderful’ and ‘Spirals’—and cements their status as one of Western Australia’s most compelling rock acts. The band’s upward trajectory is already paying off this year, earning them two prestigious WAM Song Of The Year nominations.

At its core, ‘Sweet Ride’ serves as an empowering shield against doubt and negativity. Speaking about the inspiration behind the track, frontwoman and songwriter Jenna Hardie shares: "I often write messages to myself when I write lyrics to songs — almost like journal entries. ‘Sweet Ride’ is about determination and perseverance. Working towards what you want. Having the belief in yourself that you can do it — and refusing to take on board the noise and negativity of others."

That underlying self-belief turns the track into a personal mantra for anyone staring down naysayers. Since their 2021 debut, Unicorn have built a strong live reputation, landing high-profile supporting slots for Australian icons like Jebediah, Clouds, and Def FX, alongside appearances at RTR FM Winter Music Festival and Spliffs n Riffs. Their hook-laden sound is also striking a chord far beyond local borders, picking up global airplay across Japan, the UK, Canada, Brazil, and Mexico.

To mark the release, the group are hitting the road for a run of West Coast dates, kicking off with a launch show at Fremantle's The Buffalo Club on Saturday 22 August, followed by stops in Bunbury and Albany.
