Scandinavian Folk Shines on Second Choice’s Striking New Single

Swedish multi-instrumentalist Fredrik Lindström returns with his solo endeavour, Second Choice, delivering a haunting new release titled ‘Where You Found Me’. Having earned his spurs in the Gothenburg metal scene back in 1992, Lindström eventually launched Second Choice as a creative outlet for the varied musical concepts that did not suit his band setups. Over time, that side venture evolved into his main focus, giving him the space to explore everything from delta blues to traditional Nordic folk.

Since Lindström leaves vocal duties to guest performers, he has routinely joined forces with Greek singer Dimi De San. Their existing repertoire includes pieces like ‘Edge of Light’, ‘The Haunting’, and ‘By the Blackened Fern’, and that shared history shines bright on this latest collaboration. The foundation of the track grew organically from Lindström jamming on guitar, building timeless, melancholic riffs into a rough framework before handing the reins over to De San to pen the lyrics and melodies.

The resulting soundscape drifts naturally across gothic rock, dark wave, and neofolk. Opening with an immediate, siren-like vocal entry from De San, the song instantly establishes an eerie, cinematic world. Her vocal delivery is the heart of the recording—fluid, expressive, and moving effortlessly between delicate whispers and soaring, operatic peaks that call to mind symphonic metal heavyweights. Behind her, Lindström builds a dark landscape where intense emotional isolation gradually shifts into hope.

The lyrics sketch out spaces filled with heavy thoughts and forgotten dreams, presenting love not as a magical cure-all, but as a quiet force teaching someone how to breathe again. Its lines, like “loving you was letting my soul go, leaving you, was letting my heart die,” that capture the heart and soul of the track, adding weight to the textured instrumentals.

Musically, Lindström’s haunting piano work and Scandinavian-inspired guitar riffs provide a tense yet mellow foundation. While the instrumental density occasionally crowds the intricate vocal harmonies during peak moments, the arrangement shines brightest when the instrumentation steps back, allowing De San’s melody to float effortlessly above the acoustic space. The song carries the spirit and tension of a rock track without relying on sheer volume, achieving its impact through pure atmosphere and emotional weight instead.

‘Where You Found Me’ is a captivating, deeply atmospheric release that highlights the rich creative chemistry between Lindström and De San. You can follow Second Choice on YouTube and Spotify to catch the latest updates.
