Fresh off the back of his recent release, 'The Ones You Think You Own', the ever-prolific ILIA has returned to the spotlight with a striking new music video for 'Gasoline'. This isn't just a simple cover; it is a total sonic overhaul of the Halsey hit, trading polished pop sensibilities for a brooding, guitar-heavy atmosphere that feels both massive and hauntingly personal.
By filtering the emotional turbulence of the original through a darker, industrial lens, ILIA has crafted a version that wouldn't feel out of place on a playlist alongside Nine Inch Nails, Muse, or The Smashing Pumpkins. The track expertly balances cinematic grandeur with a raw, immediate grit, proving once again that ILIA is an artist who thrives in the space between melody and mayhem.
“With 'Gasoline', ILIA takes a song that already carries emotional volatility and pushes it into a darker, more cinematic space,” notes Danielle Holian, publicist for Decent Music PR. “This release really showcases where he is creatively right now: fearless, guitar-forward, and visually uncompromising. After the momentum he’s built over the past year, this video feels like a defining moment for the project.”
ILIA’s pedigree in the alternative scene is well-established. Cutting his teeth in the early 2000s Seattle circuit, he performed with The Hills Have Eyes (alongside Thomas Erak of The Fall Of Troy) and founded Red Museum. His journey eventually led him to Los Angeles, where he briefly collaborated with David Silvera (Korn) before exploring electro-pop with ILIA AND KEELY. In 2018, his reputation as a formidable guitarist was further cemented when he joined the industrial rock veterans ORGY.
Perhaps most impressively, ILIA’s technical prowess saw him named as one of just ten finalists to audition for The Smashing Pumpkins in early 2024—a massive nod from Billy Corgan himself. Since then, he has doubled down on his solo work, releasing three EPs and a string of high-concept videos.
'Gasoline' serves as a powerful testament to ILIA’s evolution. It’s a bold, experimental step forward that fuses his veteran musicianship with a fresh, uncompromising vision. For more, you can join ILIA today on Instagram and Facebook, or head to his website.
