Western Australia has a relentless habit of churning out indie-pop royalty, and Ghost Care are the latest to prove that the Perth scene is currently unmatched. The trio have officially returned today with their punchy new single 'So Long’, a track that manages to wrap a defiant "good riddance" in a layer of shimmering, high-energy melodies.
Far from a melancholic farewell, ‘So Long’ serves as a vibrant breakup anthem for those ready to trade sadness for self-assurance. Frontman Beau Torrance explains the sentiment behind the lyrics:
“It’s about being with someone who is clueless to the fact that it’s over, and won’t acknowledge that they are not right for each other. It’s a song where you can say goodbye and good riddance with a bit of attitude - a good one for those people who maybe have ended a relationship, and want to move forward from the sad phase into the acceptance phase. We had a lot of fun bringing this one together in the studio.”
To capture this evolution, the band enlisted some heavy hitters in the Australian production circuit. The track was produced and mixed by Dave Parkin (the magic ears behind Spacey Jane and South Summit) and mastered by Joe Carra (San Cisco, Amyl & The Sniffers). This collaboration has resulted in a sound that leans further into synth-driven pop sensibilities while maintaining the sun-drenched indie rock foundations that fans have come to adore.
It’s been a whirlwind period for the group, who recently welcomed Emma Joan to the line-up. Since the release of their 2025 EP, 'Oh Positive', Ghost Care have seen their trajectory skyrocket, earning a spot on Live Nation’s Ones To Watch and touring with the likes of The Tullamarines and Teenage Dads.
Locals won’t have to wait long to see the new material in its natural, high-octane environment. Ghost Care are set to headline The Bird in Perth on May 9th, supported by Blush and Clare Perrott, before heading to Fremantle to support Ball Park Music at Freo Social on May 29th and 30th.
You can stream 'So Long' now and keep up with Ghost Care's next moves on Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok.
