Brisbane’s indie-rock scene has been buzzing with anticipation, and today, Vinted Vineer have finally delivered the ultimate teaser for their next chapter. The four-piece has dropped their latest single, ‘blocksplitter’, serving as the final glimpse into their forthcoming studio album, 'lament'.
The track follows a stellar twelve-month run for the group, who have transitioned from promising local breakouts to one of the most consistent forces in the Australian indie circuit. Having spent the last year sharpening their craft through high-energy live sets and a string of successful releases, the band is now stepping into an era that feels decidedly more mature and vibrant.
Recorded in collaboration with Ruben McIntyre (Armach), ‘blockspitter’ is a departure from the band’s softer origins, leaning into a sound they describe as “reflective, heavy, and a little haunting.” The track showcases the tight-knit chemistry the band has cultivated since their 2023 debut, pushing their songwriting into more visceral territory.
“It came from a period where I was writing a lot more inwardly, trying to build more self-affirming ideas into the lyrics,” the band explains. “A lot of the verses are me talking to myself, trying to stay grounded and sure of where I’m heading. It’s not tied to one specific moment, more a general feeling of keeping your head down and staying on the right track.
That line, “just be certain for once in your life, even if it’s only tonight,” kind of sums it up. Sonically, it leans into something moodier and more chaotic than our usual stuff. It still carries that softness we tend to have, but pushes into a heavier space. It came together pretty quickly too, building guitar parts in pieces and stitching them together before adding vocals.”
The single is accompanied by a striking music video directed by Sebastian Ritchie, which mirrors the track’s urgency. Filmed in a community warehouse under a tight three-hour deadline, the visual draws inspiration from the raw energy of Foo Fighters and Playboi Carti.
“The goal was to match the weight of the track with something fast, raw and performance driven,” the band says. “The location ended up shaping everything... it meant working quickly and trusting instinct, which gave the final result a bit of urgency.”
With support already pouring in from triple j and Rage, and a reputation for electric live shows alongside peers like Dust and Velvet Trip, Vinted Vineer are poised for a massive 2026.
