The transition from your twenties to your thirties often arrives not with a bang, but with a quiet, unsettling realisation that the blueprint you drew for your life no longer works. It is this delicate, uneasy middle ground that Brighton-based multi-instrumentalist Zoe Konez explores on her brilliant new album, ‘Everything’s Fine’.
Scheduled for release on Friday, 12th June, the 12-track record is a testament to the power of independent DIY music. Konez handles every single element of the process—writing, recording, performing, and producing the entire project from her home studio. The result is an incredibly intimate alternative folk journey that charts her departure from an overwhelming London lifestyle toward a more grounded existence by the sea.
Throughout the album, Konez rejects flawless, clinical digital production in favour of beautiful imperfection. Listeners can catch the faint bleed of environmental noise and the tactile scrape of fingers on guitar strings, creating an organic warmth.
The heart of the record beats strongest on the focus track, ‘We Have To’. Built around elegant, plucked guitar notes and remarkably gentle vocals, it offers an incredibly moving perspective on resilience. Konez captures this survival instinct perfectly, singing, “When the big bad wolf, blows our house right in, we build back up, because we have to”
Other highlights showcase her ability to transform heavy themes into soothing balm. ‘Nudge’ tackles the sheer exhaustion of trying to fix oneself, capturing the exact moment a small external signal breaks a mental spiral. Meanwhile, ‘Yeah I Know’ acts as a calm, close-up lullaby that defuses anxiety, and ‘Easy To Learn’ provides a sunlit dose of earned optimism through stacked, gorgeous vocal harmonies.
‘Everything’s Fine’ doesn't promise easy fixes or dramatic reinventions. Instead, it sits with you in the quiet aftermath of breakups and adult loneliness, offering a hand to hold. It is a deeply human, hand-crafted triumph that finds beauty in the spaces where we fall apart.
‘Everything’s Fine’ lands on all major platforms on Friday, 12th June. You can pre-save and stream the album on Spotify and Apple Music, or on vinyl and CD. To stay updated with Zoe Konez’s upcoming tour dates, be sure to follow her on Instagram, Facebook, X, and TikTok.
