For Sydney-based artist Giddy, a life spent navigating poetry, photography, dance, and fashion design was eventually sidelined by her demanding career as a refugee lawyer. She had never planned on making music—in fact, she barely sang at all until a Mother’s Day singing class with her mum unexpectedly reawakened a dormant musicality.
Following her debut release ‘kintsugi’, Giddy has returned with her second single, ‘salt’, an evocative window into her upcoming debut album, ‘songs for awkward spaces’. Produced by Sean Carey, the record deliberately shuns idealised romance to examine the emotional exhaustion, friction, and heavy compromises that anchor enduring partnerships. On ‘salt’, which arrived earlier this month, Giddy homes in on the agonising friction that occurs when closeness is weaponised.
“The record explores the difficult moments in relationships that are for keeps, and 'salt' is a song about the dark side of intimacy - about feeling at the end of your rope with someone who you can't bear to give up on,” Giddy shared.

Producer Sean Carey ensures the song retains the raw vulnerability of Giddy's original bedroom recordings, avoiding any hint of overblown melodrama.
