The Buoys Unleash New Single 'Bitch' And Announce A Massive Australian Tour

Sydney four-piece The Buoys are back with their latest single, ‘Bitch’, a fiery and unapologetic anthem that arrives just in time to fuel their upcoming Australian and European tours. The track, which dropped today, sees the band continue their ascent in the Australian music scene, following the critical acclaim of their 2024 debut album, 'Lustre'.

‘Bitch’ was produced by ARIA Award-winner Chris Collins and mastered by George Georgiadis. It's a powerful track that tackles a frustratingly familiar experience for many women: being unfairly labelled just for speaking their minds. The song's genesis, however, is a hilariously relatable tale of everyday chaos, as recounted by lead singer and guitarist Zoe Catterall. "I was dealing with the classic case of 'they’ll call you a bitch 'cause it’s easier than taking accountability for their actions' type scenario," she explains. "On my way to the session, I got a comfort food snack and had a very light car prang while doing so... I ate my hash browns and had a cry in the car park before heading to the session lol, and what resulted was this beautiful chaotic song about being called a bitch, which is obviously not a fun time, but I’m so glad the song is really fun in spite of that."

This raw and candid storytelling is a hallmark of The Buoys' music. It’s a quality that resonated deeply with fans and critics on their debut album, 'Lustre', which debuted at #7 on the Australian Album ARIA charts and was named triple j’s Featured Album in July. The album solidified their reputation for crafting songs that are as sonically intense as they are emotionally resonant, exploring themes of empowerment and resilience with their signature brand of indie rock.

With the new single, the band is set to take their electrifying live show to a new level. The Buoys are heading to Europe this September, playing headline shows in Germany, the Czech Republic, Austria, and The Netherlands, alongside a highly anticipated run of multiple shows at Hamburg's Reeperbahn Festival.

But for their devoted Aussie fans, the real excitement lies in their return. The band will be embarking on an Australian single tour in November, hitting up stages in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth. "Anyone who’s been to a Buoys show knows just how much we love playing live and touring," the band shared. "Nothing compares to playing our own shows; the atmosphere people create at Buoys shows is unlike any other. Our fans are the nicest, coolest people we’ve ever met. To be gearing up for a tour around a new release makes that all the more exciting! We can’t wait."
