The Heart of the Matter: KYE's New EP is a Vulnerable Homecoming

In a music landscape that often rewards the polished and pristine, ARIA-nominated singer/songwriter KYE is breaking through with a refreshingly raw and authentic sound. Her latest offering, the four-track EP, 'Kylie's Rant', is a bold and honest collection that feels less like a new direction and more like a return to herself.

Following a string of releases that have garnered critical acclaim, KYE today unveils her most personal work yet. The EP features the powerful ‘Gospel’, the introspective coming-of-age anthem ‘29’, and the upbeat ‘Love Yourself’. These tracks now culminate in the final entry of her metaphorical diary: the title track ‘Kylie’s Rant’, a visualiser for which was also released.

Speaking on the EP's creation, KYE shares, “This EP is a homecoming for me. After five years of releasing music as KYE, I wanted to go back to my roots sonically. My early songs were all written acoustically, and there was a magic in that early exploration phase. I wanted to give that back to myself and in turn offer a really raw version of myself to my listeners.”

This sense of returning to her core is a recurring theme. The songs are a deeply personal exploration of relationships—both romantic and platonic—and, perhaps most importantly, the one we have with ourselves. It's a journey of self-love and awareness, a powerful reminder that our paths in life are never set in stone. The EP features an impressive lineup of collaborators, what KYE has fittingly dubbed "The Avengers of pop-rock"—G Flip, Aidan Hogg, Oscar Dawson, and Johnny Took—each artist helping to create a sound that is both new for KYE and deeply familiar to her.

"'Kylie's Rant' didn’t feel like I was coming out of myself to do something different. It actually felt like I was coming back to myself," she notes, highlighting the organic nature of this creative shift. This authentic approach is what makes 'Kylie's Rant' so compelling. It's a project that is unafraid to be vulnerable, while still maintaining the underlying joy that has always been a hallmark of her music.

Fans will have the chance to experience this new sound live when KYE performs with her new band at BIGSOUND, Australia's leading artist showcase. She is set to play on Wednesday, September 3, and Thursday, September 4, promising two unmissable performances that will further cement this new phase of her journey.

With 'Kylie's Rant', KYE has not just released a new EP; she has offered a re-introduction to her artistry, and this is clearly only the beginning. You can stream the new EP above, and for more, be sure to follow her on TikTok, Instagram, and Facebook.
