Aotearoa’s soul heavyweight TEEKS (Ngāpuhi, Ngāi Te Rangi, Ngāti Ranginui) has officially mapped out his return, announcing his eagerly awaited sophomore album, 'Lovers Comet', scheduled to arrive on 30 October via Sony Music.
Landing half a decade after his landmark debut 'Something To Feel', the new record captures a profound personal evolution. Where his previous effort established his rich baritone on a national stage, 'Lovers Comet' expands into a mythic, spacious realm—blending classic soul sincerity with a lush, celestial sonic aesthetic.
In TEEKS’ words – “'Lovers Comet' is a meditation on desire – its purity, its danger, its euphoria, its shadow. The album explores love not as fantasy, but as a cosmic phenomenon: magnetic, unpredictable, breathtaking, and occasionally destructive. Like a comet, love passes through our lives with force and beauty – illuminating, disrupting, and ultimately transforming us."

Alongside the project announcement, TEEKS dropped 'Overdose'—the second teaser following June's lead single 'My Boy'. Drawing direct narrative inspiration from Madeline Miller’s novel 'The Song of Achilles', the track examines the dizzying threshold where devotion morphs into complete surrender.
"I was inspired to write ‘Overdose’ after reading The Song of Achilles. The song refers to love as an act of worship. The devotion of one's self to another, similar to one's devotion to god. For to witness them is to witness the devine. A presence so powerful, so intoxicating you become undone. They are both your saviour and your ruin.”
Fresh off a landmark run of platinum-certified shows in South Africa, TEEKS will head across the Tasman this November for his biggest Australian tour yet, capped off by a date at the iconic Sydney Opera House.
