After recently relocating to Australia’s harbour city, the five-piece outfit PARK RD have officially kicked off their 2026 campaign with the release of ‘Burn Away’. It marks a bold re-entry for a band that has spent the last year sharpening their teeth on the road and refining a sound that feels both nostalgic and refreshingly urgent.
‘Burn Away’ finds the group operating at their most kinetic. From the opening bars, it is clear that the band has opted for a "guitars-first" philosophy. Te Kapua Pene provides a relentless, driving foundation on the drums, allowing a wall of distorted melody to crash over the listener. What makes the track truly stand out, however, is the juxtaposition of this instrumental intensity with frontman Tom Chamberlain’s vocal performance. Following on from the success of recent tracks ‘The Way I Feel’, ‘English Boy’, and ‘Antidote’, ‘Burn Away’ signals a band in the midst of a creative growth spurt. They are successfully expanding their emotional toolkit without losing the infectious energy that made them a staple of the New Zealand touring circuit.
Having already shared stages with heavyweights like Spacey Jane, Milky Chance, and The Band CAMINO, PARK RD are no longer just "ones to watch"—they are becoming the main event. To celebrate the new drop, the band is hitting the ground running with a series of live dates. Sydneysiders can catch them tomorrow, Saturday 2 May, for a free headline show at the Warren View Hotel as part of the Great Southern Nights initiative. This will be followed by a residency-style run including a night at Pleasure Club on 14 May, before they gear up for massive support slots with San Cisco and Pacific Avenue.
