Japanese alt-rock trio Mass Of The Fermenting Dregs are rapidly upgrading venues and selling out dates months ahead of their debut Australian tour. Find out where you can catch them and dive into their latest release.
Far too often, international acts underestimate the appetite of Australian crowds. Japanese alt-rock powerhouse Mass Of The Fermenting Dregs certainly aren't making that mistake. Months before they even touch down for their highly anticipated debut tour in February 2027, the trio has been forced to massively upscale their venues just to keep up with surging demand.
Their scheduled stop at Sydney’s Metro Theatre on Friday, 5 February is now officially totally sold out. Meanwhile, Melbourne fans have been given a final lifeline. Originally slated for the Northcote Theatre, the Saturday, 6 February gig has been bumped up to the iconic Forum to accommodate the frantic rush for tickets. If you're up in Brisbane, you've still got a slim chance to catch them at The Triffid on Thursday, 4 February, but those allocations are dwindling fast. The band are clearly just as eager to hit our shores, stating: "Australia, we’re finally coming! It’s a place we’ve dreamed of visiting for so long. We can’t wait to see you all next February”
Affectionately known as Masu Dore (マスドレ), the group has spent over a decade and a half carving out a relentless, high-energy sound. Tracing their sonic lineage back to the fuzzy, melody-driven grit of 90s heavyweights like The Smashing Pumpkins, Sugar, and The Wedding Present, they’ve managed to synthesise those influences into something distinctly their own.
From their self-titled 2008 EP through to full-length efforts like No New World (2018) and 'Awakening:Sleeping' (2022), they've cultivated a fiercely loyal global following. Now, they are riding high on the momentum of their 2024 'Live In Japan' record and their freshly minted EP, 'Iwaou', bringing a refined yet chaotic edge to their live performances.
If you want to experience the sheer volume of Masu Dore for yourself, you'll need to move rapidly. Melbourne tickets for the upgraded Forum show go on sale today, Friday 16 October, at 10am AEDT. While you scramble to secure your spot in the pit, make sure to stream their brilliant new EP 'Iwaou' on your preferred platform and follow the band across Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube to keep up with any final tour updates.
