Few artists safely traverse the boundary between corporate tech boardrooms and sweaty underground club floors, but Yselem Suazo, the visionary behind the moniker La Música, is not your average creator. Shifting fluidly between the cultural poles of London, Santo Domingo, and Rio de Janeiro, this non-binary artist, entrepreneur, and creative director has woven a rich professional tapestry that spans Tokyo catwalks and British contemporary art spaces.
Since making a striking debut with ‘Fashion Week de Callejon’ in 2023, La Música has built a reputation for crafting club tracks that balance pure sonic euphoria with reflective depth. Fresh off a successful string of guerrilla-style pop-ups at SXSW London, La Música had made an equally vibrant return with their most fiercely realised statement to date, the untamed single ‘Nos Liberamos’.
The new track is both a fierce electronic experiment and a vibrant manifesto of self-determination. Orchestrated alongside producer Tolo Desaparécelo, known for his work with avant-garde luminaries like Tokischa, the sonic architecture here is intentionally chaotic. Squeaky horn samples clash against heavy, industrial beats, colliding the syncopated weight of Dominican dembow with the raw velocity of Brazilian baile funk and old-school Eurodance. Far from feeling cluttered, the composition moves with a singular, propulsive momentum that feels tailored for dark warehouses and inner-city street protests alike.
Lyrically, the song hits with absolute certainty, capturing the intersection of personal freedom and community defiance. On the central hook, La Música delivers an unapologetic decree of independence, adding depth to the melee of noise. It is a beautifully sharp pushback aimed squarely at societal conformity, specifically celebrating those who exist outside traditional structures.
By proudly uplifting “las joyas raras” of the world, the track masterfully transforms standard club bravado into a broader anthem of queer rebellion. It’s a sound where the sheer density of the percussion and uncompromising production work entirely in the track's favour.
‘Nos Liberamos’ successfully bridges the gap between celebration and protest, cementing La Música as a thrillingly radical voice in modern global electronic music. To keep up with La Música's boundary-pushing journey and future releases, follow them today on Instagram.
