Sombr Swaps Sadness for a High-Noon Showdown on 'Homewrecker'

Fresh off a glittering stint at the 68th annual GRAMMY® Awards—where he delivered a standout performance of the infectious '12 to 12'—indie-pop’s golden boy sombr is back to stir the pot. His latest single, 'Homewrecker', marks the first taste of new music since his 2025 debut album, 'I Barely Know Her', took over the charts and established the New York native as a powerhouse of "bedroom-pop-gone-platinum."

Released via Warner Records, 'Homewrecker' finds the multi-hyphenate leaning into his most cinematic instincts. The track, written and co-produced entirely by sombr himself, trade's the hazy, intimate atmosphere of hits like "back to friends" for a gritty, bass-driven wall of sound. It’s an evolution from the Lower East Side bedroom recordings to a more muscular, festival-ready aesthetic that feels both high-stakes and refreshingly messy.

The accompanying music video, helmed by director Gus Black (the visionary behind visuals for Phoebe Bridgers and Laufey), is a literal riot. Starring alongside social media icon Quenlin Blackwell and Zombies star Milo Manheim, sombr finds himself on a chaotic Western film set. Manheim plays a volatile director pushing his actors to the brink, eventually blurring the lines between the script and reality. The tension culminates in a classic high-noon showdown, perfectly mirroring the song’s lyrical themes of romantic sabotage and internal chaos.

The rise of Shane Boose (the man behind the moniker) has been nothing short of a whirlwind. From studying classical music at LaGuardia High School to amassing over 400 million monthly streams, he has maintained a fierce independence. Despite his massive scale, his work remains self-contained; 'I Barely Know Her' was a solo writing effort co-produced with the legendary Tony Berg.

The industry is clearly taking note. In addition to his Best New Artist nod at the GRAMMYS®, sombr is currently eyeing two trophies at the upcoming BRIT Awards: International Artist of the Year and International Song of the Year for 'undressed'.

With a sold-out UK and European tour kicking off next week and a massive Coachella debut on the horizon, sombr is no longer just an internet sensation—he’s the new blueprint for the modern pop star.
