Global sensation Luke Combs has given fans an early Christmas present, dropping a surprise three-track EP, 'The Prequel'. The mini-project, produced by Luke and Chip Matthews, serves as an appetiser for his highly anticipated new album, which is expected to arrive early next year.
The EP features the tracks 'Days Like These' and '15 Minutes', alongside the already viral fan-favourite, 'My Kinda Saturday Night'. Luke has been teasing the latter online, building up anticipation to a fever pitch, and the track is so good that his upcoming 2026 tour will be named after it.
"Still working on my new album that’ll be out early next year, but three songs from it are ready now and I couldn’t wait to get y’all some new music, so I’m releasing them this Friday, October 3 as 'The Prequel'," Luke shared in a statement. "Songs will be 'Days Like These,' '15 Minutes' and 'My Kinda Saturday Night,' which next year’s tour will be named after. I’ll have more news on that very soon."
The release of 'The Prequel' caps off another incredible year for the multi-diamond artist from Asheville, NC. Following a historic festival run that saw him as the first country artist ever to headline both Bonnaroo and Lollapalooza, Luke is also set to top the bill at Austin City Limits and Country Calling later this month. He has also been nominated for three awards at the 2025 CMA Awards, including the coveted Entertainer of the Year.
This new EP arrives on the heels of his latest single, 'Back in the Saddle', which is currently in the top 10 on the Billboard Country Airplay chart. Billboard praised the track as a "multi-award winner and mainstay chart-topper declaring his intentions to remain leading the pack," while Holler called it a "powerhouse vocal performance" and "a timely reminder as to why he's still one of the modern greats."
Luke's relentless success continues to make history. He recently became the first country artist to have two songs with a billion streams on Spotify and the first with four RIAA-certified Diamond singles. His collaboration with Post Malone on 'Guy For That' and his moving duet of 'Fast Car' with Tracy Chapman at the 66th Grammy Awards further demonstrate his genre-defying appeal. While we wait for the full album, 'The Prequel' is a welcome reminder of why Luke Combs remains at the forefront of modern music.
