Seven years of relentless touring, chaotic live shows, and an actual world record for eating hard-boiled eggs are coming to a close. Beloved Australian punk rockers FANGZ have officially announced they are calling it a day, bringing the curtain down on their tenure as a band.
However, they aren't fading out quietly. To mark their departure, the group has unleashed 'VOID', a blistering farewell single that captures everything fans love about their sound. Produced by Daniel Antix and mixed by Tim Maxwell, the track wastes no time. It launches headfirst with an explosive intro, giving way to thrash-heavy verses and a massive, melodic chorus that is propelled by angst-fuelled vocals and breakneck drumming.
Bassist Jameel Majam detailed the heavy themes behind the release. "'VOID' explores the lies we tell ourselves to avoid confronting uncomfortable truths. It's about creating your own version of reality, convincing yourself you're doing the right thing while ignoring the impact your actions have on those around you," says Majam.
"At its core, the song explores the disconnect between words and actions, and the difficulty of admitting when something you once cared deeply about no longer feels the same. As we prepare to enter an indefinite hiatus, the song takes on a fitting new meaning, reflecting themes of honesty, self-awareness and knowing when it's time to move on," he continues.
Since forming in 2019, FANGZ have crammed a remarkable amount of action into their career. They dropped three EPs and their stellar 2025 debut album 'Shui', which stormed both the ARIA Australian Album and overall Album charts. Alongside supporting heavyweights like Pennywise and Cancer Bats, they launched their own hot sauce, curated the FANGZstock festival, and completed a 24-hour East Coast tour. Let's also not forget frontman Joshua Cottreau cementing his legacy with a Guinness World Record for consuming 143 eggs in just over three minutes.
Fans have one last chance to catch this unpredictable energy live. The band hits the road this December for a four-date run, stopping in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, and Newcastle. Make sure to stream 'VOID' on all major digital platforms right now, and follow FANGZ across Facebook, Instagram, and X to stay updated as they take their final bow.
