DICE Announce Sophomore Album and Drop Radiant New Single

Perth indie-rock heavyweights DICE are officially preparing for liftoff. The beloved four-piece has revealed that their highly anticipated second studio album, ‘I Thought The Altitude Would Make It Worth The View’, will land on 31 July via Tone City Records and Virgin Music Group. To give us a taste of what is on the horizon, the band has also unleashed their soaring new single, ‘Loose Change’.

The upcoming 10-track collection marks a captivating evolution for the West Australian outfit, consisting of Ben Hodge, Tom King, Regan Beazley, and Sam Barrett-Lennard. Moving away from the gritty, nighttime textures of their ARIA-charting 2024 debut 'Midnight Zoo', DICE are stepping into a vastly different atmosphere. The new record promises a brighter, more expansive sonic landscape drenched in bliss and liberation—essentially serving as the ultimate windows-down soundtrack for self-reflection.

If the album aims for higher ground, new single ‘Loose Change’ is the vehicle getting them there. What began as a simple smartphone voice note quickly transformed into a powerhouse track. The band refined the song in Los Angeles alongside G Flip before tracking it at Hollywood’s historic EastWest Studios with legendary 11-time Grammy-winning producer Joe Chiccarelli, known for his iconic work with The Strokes and The White Stripes.

While the broader album leans into a more sophisticated architecture, ‘Loose Change’ delivers the immediate, sun-kissed adrenaline rush that fans fell in love with on early staples like ‘Double Espresso’ and ‘Stop Sign’. Serving as the second preview of the LP following March's teaser ‘COOLER’, the song lands as a powerful anthem about backing yourself.

The band says of the track, “’Loose Change’ is about taking risks and getting out from the safety net to achieve what you set out for. This track is a nice reminder that it’s all a matter of the mind and anybody can achieve what they strive for.”

It has been a whirlwind few years for the group. After conquering local airwaves—holding a firm grip on triple j’s Most Played Artists list for three years straight with hits like ‘Chasing Hearts’, ‘Alter Ego’, and ‘Hourglass’—2025 saw them expand their boundaries with the ‘WINGS’ EP. They swiftly graduated to global stages, bringing their kinetic live energy to crowds in New York, London, Toronto, and Amsterdam.

With this new chapter, DICE aren't just climbing the ladder; they are comfortably cruising at their own altitude. You can stream the new single above, and make sure you stay locked to DICE’s Instagram and TikTok for all upcoming album updates.
