After four long years of steady evolution, Melbourne band BB Sabina have unveiled their full-length album, ‘Dissolve’. Born out of a shift from their origins in Alice Springs to Melbourne, the record serves as a testament to creative growth and the magic of true musical collaboration.
The seven-track journey effortlessly bridges contrasting sonic territories. Walls of hazy shoegaze guitar crash against steady, trip-hop-inspired grooves, while atmospheric synths and post-rock dynamics weave through the arrangements. The result is a soundscape that feels simultaneously weightless and deeply rooted, shifting between intense bursts of noise and wide, quiet spaces.
At its heart, ‘Dissolve’ grapples with transition: stepping into the unknown, navigating change, and learning how to surrender control. Lead vocalist and songwriter Bethany Uhe originally kicked off the project in the Northern Territory before relocating south in 2020. Gathering bassist Warrick Newman and drummer Travis Germaine in 2022, the group spent years experimenting with new textures to build a distinct world. The addition of fourth member Mark Valentine on live bass ensures every layer of fuzz, delicate woodwind, and warm keys translates seamlessly off the record.
Self-produced by the band and tracked across Clamberdown Studios, The Aviary Studios, and Kakadu Studios by Newman, the album carries a raw, immersive texture. Andrew Huhtanen McEwan mixed the majority of the tracks, while Aden Senycia stepped in for ‘Multitude’ and ‘Beyond’, with Joe Carra providing the final polish at Crystal Mastering.
