LuvPlxto Opens Up About His New EP And Evolving Artistry

Hailing from upstate New York, LuvPlxto is a 20-year-old artist who is quickly making a name for himself. His unique sound and introspective lyrics are setting him apart in the music scene. With a background rooted in gospel and jazz, he began crafting his own music at the age of 12, eventually leading to his standout EP, ‘XPLAIN’, which showcases his raw lyrical talent and distinctive style.

In this exclusive interview, we sit down with LuvPlxto to discuss his musical journey, from his early days in a church choir to his most recent, vulnerable single, ‘Flood’. We'll also dig into his creative process, the influences that shape his sound, and what he has to say to his growing fanbase.

Thanks so much for taking the time and speaking with us today. Let’s take it right back to the start - when did you first start making music? Where did it all begin, and what inspired you?

“I first started getting involved with music around the age of around seven. I used to be in a choir at my church. I didn’t start making my own music around the year 2017 which would put me at the age of 12. On top of me being a part of a choir, music was also a big part of my family as well. Music is what was played no matter where we went, especially jazz.”

You have a new single out now. Can you tell us a bit about the track and what it means to you?

“My latest release is called ‘Flood’. It’s a song where I am showing my vulnerability and being honest to those listening about my mental state. Some days I feel great and other days I don’t, but I usually don’t know why I feel that way. “

Were there any artists, moments, or experiences that influenced you when writing the release?

“For ‘Flood’, I don’t have anything that really influenced me. For the most part, it’s just simply me stating my thoughts and feelings. However, for my EP I wanted to make something unique, something that can be played out loud and that the listener can say, ‘that’s LuvPlxto’.”

You’ve touched on the EP, ‘XPLAIN’. What was the songwriting process for the EP? How did it all come together?

“Knowing that I wanted to make something unique, I also wanted to make my release personal as well as relatable. From the beat choice to the lyrics to the different moods in the EP, it gives the listeners freedom and an urge to want more. Even though every song on the EP is unique, the theme of the EP still ties together and blends beautifully. This was definitely some of my best work.”

How would you describe the sound on your latest release? Has there been a change or evolution in style since you first began?

“I would say the sound does have hints of influences from other artists such as Nino Paid and Lil Tony. Lately I’ve been sticking with experimenting with different instruments in the beats that I may choose which I think is what also makes it unique.”

Is there anything you would like to say to our audience? How can they connect with you and help support you?

“No matter if I have one supporter or millions, I will always be grateful for everyone that takes the time out of their day to listen to what I have created. If anyone would like to work, feel free to send me a DM.”

“Last thing I’m going to say is this: remember that music is also a form of art. Make it unique to you and do what you love, and someone out there will appreciate it as much as you do. It’s better to stand out than to fit in so be the best version of you as well as the most original version of you; don’t change for nobody.”

It's clear that for LuvPlxto, music is much more than just a creative outlet—it's a form of art that allows for genuine self-expression. His message to aspiring artists and listeners alike is a powerful reminder that authenticity is key. He encourages everyone to embrace their unique voice and stay true to themselves, knowing that there will always be an audience that appreciates originality.
