XIMERMJ Levels Up With New EP ‘Signature Search’

Dropping today, ‘Signature Search’ marks a pivotal evolution for Buffalo-based producer XIMERMJ. While his debut collection, ‘Trivial Truths’, felt like a raw exploration of his capabilities, this second EP arrives with a sharper sense of intent. There is a palpable shift in perspective here; rather than trying to fit a specific mould, XIMERMJ is embracing the freedom of independence.

Reflecting on his growth, he notes: “This second EP is all about realising that I’m creating music for myself, not just for others. If it touches people, that’s fantastic; if not, that’s okay too.”

This self-assured approach translates into a body of work that is both structurally sound and sonically adventurous. The cover art, captured in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, mirrors this philosophy. Using the bent fencing of his first EP as a prototype, the new imagery focuses on stability and deliberate design. XIMERMJ explains that it represents "structural music, showing that the fencing is well-made, carefully thought out and pushing that signature sign I’m still searching for—probably always will be.”

Musically, the EP is a heavy-hitting blend of dark pop and high-octane electronica. Openers ‘Biometrics’ and ‘Urgency’ set a high bar, utilising controlled chaos to create a bristling industrial atmosphere. It is the kind of sound that demands a physical reaction, pushing the boundaries of experimental dance music. ‘Deadlock’ follows with a rhythmic intensity that feels ripped from a dystopian soundtrack, full of echoing pulses and stark transitions. In contrast, ‘Sharpening The Knife’ offers a brief moment of cosmic reprieve, with its static-laden rhythms drifting through a melodic haze.

The project finds its peak with ‘Surging’, a relentless track that manages to pack immense energy into a lean runtime. This momentum carries through to the finale, ‘Decrypted’, where visceral chants and heavy bass provide a grounded counterpoint to more celestial notes. It is a gritty, authentic collection that acknowledges the difficulty of being a solo artist in a crowded market.

As XIMERMJ puts it: “Hide your skills as an artist in today’s digital world of mayhem.” While the producer admits he started this journey in a headspace of anger and confusion, ‘Signature Search’ proves he has found a way to channel that friction into something genuinely compelling.

Along with the digital release of the EP, XIMERMJ will be sharing a physical release through Elastic Stage, which will include the EP on 12” vinyl and CD. To keep pace with his evolving sound and future releases, catch XIMERMJ on Instagram and Facebook.
