Taking Back The Crown, Life After Last Return In Top Form

Philadelphia’s own Life After Last have recently returned with new single ‘Take The Crown,’ a blistering metalcore cut that doubles as a powerful statement of intent. Forged from the fierce scenes of metalcore and modern metal, the latest offering is a visceral tour de force, a sonic assault that showcases a new level of maturity and ferocity.

Following on from their acclaimed 2023 debut EP, ‘The Dark Horizon,’ the four-piece has dialled up the aggression and refined their sound, creating a track that will have even the most stubborn metalcore for enraptured. Built on a foundation of massive riffs and relentless energy, with Rob Harris and Bryan Bernstein’s guitars delivering a face-melting attack, ‘Take The Crown’ is a track that pulls no punches.

The rhythm section, anchored by Elliott Weiss’s crushing basslines, provides a weighty, atmospheric backbone that gives the song a cinematic scope. The star of the show though, is the addition of vocalist Nick Farrar. His vocals are absolutely devastating, carving a path between furious, captivating, and unrelenting all at once. It’s a perfect anchor for the track, helping to showcase a staggering creative breadth that seamlessly shifts between wild, explosive grit and melodic, calling moments.

The track was produced and recorded by Andrew Pokladowski and is accompanied by a stellar music video that you can stream below. With videography by Eric Taylor Parker of SeventhSide Productions, it adds a whole new depth to the track.

It’s this killer interplay between cataclysmic choruses and moments of melodic respite that keeps you hooked, pulling you in before hitting you with another wave of pure sonic devastation. While the band takes lead from genre heavyweights like The Ghost Inside and Architects, they’ve managed to create their own style, carving out a single that stands tall every time you tune in.

‘Take The Crown’ is a bold, abrasive, and brilliant experience that proves Life After Last is a force to be reckoned with. With the highly anticipated follow-up to their debut EP set for a Fall 2025 release, the band are set to burn brighter and hit harder than ever before.
