Sydney-born outfit Pro Uno has made a silky, funk-heavy return with ‘Four Letter Word’, a dazzling slice of indie-soul and alt-pop that wastes no time in making its mark. This fresh offering marks the first taste of Pro Uno's highly anticipated sophomore album, ‘Baby Blue’, arriving later this year.
The track is an absolute joy to listen to, channelling a deep sense of love and connection, symbolised by the four-letter word 'love'. Liam Stacey and co-lyricist Ziggy Tockuss beautifully express the joy and passion of being with a loved one, emphasising the power of love to bring happiness and fulfilment in life. Musically, the song is a gorgeous nod to the past, boasting Curtis Mayfield - Bill Withers-inspired instrumentation and epic strings. Tracked to 1/4" tape, the retro-analogue production wraps around you like a warm blanket, showcasing the dreamy, nostalgic, rich instrumentation signature of Pro Uno.
It’s an infectious and deeply groovy arrangement, landing with contagious optimism that is impossible to deny. As with ‘Sunny Day’, the band’s 2023 album, all production, mixing, and mastering were handled by frontman Liam Stacey, creating a complete and spacious sound that never fails to charm.
With over 190,000 monthly Spotify listeners backed by the success of 'Sunny Day', Pro Uno is poised for a massive global year. ‘Four Letter Word’ begins a rollout that includes upcoming singles 'Jelly Roll' and 'Rhythm of the Flower', all scheduled for a vinyl pressing through Izipho Records UK this November.
Following a lengthy hiatus after Party In The Paddock 2024, Pro Uno is preparing for a return to the stage, with touring plans currently being developed around the release of Baby Blue and its accompanying singles. Keep your eyes on Pro Uno's Instagram, Facebook, and streaming profiles to catch their upcoming tour dates and vinyl drop announcements.
