Harrisburg’s own purveyors of nightmare fuel, Horror Scene, have officially returned to the fray, and they aren't interested in a polite reintroduction. Their latest single, ‘Yeah You’, is a staggering display of industrial metal that feels less like a song and more like a targeted assault. Fresh off the back of their recent climb into the Metal Contraband Top 50, the Pennsylvania six-piece has managed to sharpen their blades, delivering a track that is as cold and mechanical as it is viscerally human.
Produced by the seasoned Dan Malsch, whose credits include heavyweights like Ghost and Gojira, the production on ‘Yeah You’ is immaculate yet filthy. It carries a certain "dialled into the red" urgency that captures the band’s chaotic stage energy. From the opening moments, you are met with a wall of crushing riffs provided by the triple-threat guitar attack of Steven Horror, Invictus Suicide, and Z Suicide. This isn't just noise for the sake of it; there is a relentless, driving groove here that anchors the track’s more abrasive tendencies.
Frontman Twisty Suicide leads the charge with a vocal performance dripping in pure, unadulterated venom. His delivery sits perfectly atop the thudding foundation laid down by bassist Jonny Suicide and drummer Veritas Suicide, shifting between a haunting, taunting menace and explosive outbursts of rage. The track thrives on this sense of raw confrontation, successfully "dragging you into its nightmare" without offering a way out.
Accompanying the release is a striking lyric video premiered via The Circle Pit, which serves to heighten the song’s aggressive stance. By stripping away narrative distractions and forcing the listener to stare directly at the venom-soaked attitude of the lyrics, the band reinforces the idea that this is a personal, high-energy purge of emotion.
For a band that has built its identity on the intersection of cinematic terror and no-nonsense metal, ‘Yeah You’ feels like a definitive statement. It is a sharp, jagged piece of industrial goth-metal that proves Horror Scene is one of the most provocative acts rising from the underground today. If you prefer your music with a side of safety and subtlety, look elsewhere. This is loud, ugly, and utterly brilliant.
