Eadiella's latest single, ‘Wild Thing’, is a triumph of poetic vulnerability. Released a few days ago, the song is a neo-folk-pop release that feels expansive, honest and full of possibility. Eadiella herself said the song marks a "fresh pop twist" on her sound, and it's a welcome one, showcasing a new side to her already timeless style.
The London-born, Melbourne-based singer-songwriter has already made a name for herself with her unique combination of indie-folk, pop-rock, and soft rock. Her previous singles, the dreamy debut ‘Wishing Well’ and the edgier ‘Prison Guard’, have shown her range. But ‘Wild Thing’ is arguably her most introspective and heartfelt offering yet, a testament to her growing artistry.
The track’s inspiration, sparked by a TikTok trend about categorising people, dives deep into a common feeling: the struggle to fit in. As Eadiella explained, "We’re so much more than one thing... so sometimes it feels hard to fit into the boxes we’re assigned." This theme is beautifully woven throughout the song, reflected in heavier folk leanings, but also more overtly in lyrics like, "I think that I have the thinnest skin, so everything that happens sinks in, deeper than my positive thinking."
Musically, 'Wild Thing' is a stunning journey. Produced by Craig Kemp, the song features a warm soundscape built around sweeping acoustic guitar. Eadiella's vocals are perfectly poised, offering both strength and a delicate human touch as she explores the desire to embrace a more authentic, untamed self. The chorus is folk-pop perfection, blossoming with a triumphant melody that showcases Kemp's deft production. The final minute is a standout, returning to its acoustic roots as Eadiella takes flight.
To celebrate the release of the single, Eadiella will be taking to the stage with her first headline show at The Espy Basement on Saturday, October 4th. You can get your tickets to the show now, where Eadiella will be supported by Jack Paraíso and Leo Ercole.
