Eadiella’s ‘Breathe You’ is a Haunting Masterpiece of Lingering Love

Melbourne-based, London-born singer-songwriter Eadiella has returned with her fourth, and arguably most captivating, single, ‘Breathe You’. This new track dives headfirst into the alt-indie pop realm, following the dreamlike honesty of Eadiella's debut, ‘Wishing Well’, and the soft-rock edge of ‘Prison Guard’, and delivers a bittersweet anthem of enduring heartache.

The song is a masterclass in controlled emotional release, anchored by Eadiella’s natural grace as a songwriter. Inspired by a fleeting moment of mistaken identity: seeing a lost love in a crowded station. Eadiella describes the track as being “a song for anyone who sees the one they love in everyone, everywhere, always. It’s about the kind of love that haunts you forever.”

She’s backed up this personal sentiment with a perfectly produced soundscape, aided by collaborator Craig Kemp. Sonically, Eadiella cites the synth-driven melancholy of The 1975’s ‘Somebody Else’ and the vulnerable indie-pop of Sombr as key influences, and the parallels are clear. Much like those artists, ‘Breathe You’ features a rich, atmospheric production that blends glistening synths and an insistent, 80s-tinged beat with profound lyrical transparency.

Her melodic structure, particularly in each chorus, swells with an exhilarating rush that immediately grabs hold, lifting the wistful reflection into an utterly enthralling sound. There’s a gorgeous touch of Florence + the Machine that creeps into the song, adding a touch of familiarity and pop candour that is impossible to deny. Early lyrical snippets, such as the instantly relatable line, “I tried to fill the void you left / With a person I’d barely even met,” float through the opening bars, establishing an immediate sense of intimacy and lived experience.

Along with the new single, Eadiella has also launched her first-ever music video alongside the single, which is “whimsical, heartfelt, playful and filled with yearning.” You can tune into the new video now.

As Eadiella gears up for an exciting 2026, which will see her exploring a pop/country sound on her debut album, and introducing us to her full band, ‘Breathe You’ serves as a final, glorious statement of her indie-pop prowess.

Catch her acoustic set supporting Jade Lawford at Hawthorn’s Nevermind Bar on December 6th to hear this and other songs like the upcoming pop-rock track ‘Headlights’ live. Until then, immerse yourself in the lingering ghost of ‘Breathe You’, a standout track that proves Eadiella is an artist hitting her stride.
