Dirty Hearts’ ‘Slide’ Is a Gritty, Riff-Driven Rock & Roll Statement

Hailing from the sun-drenched suburbs of Brisbane, Dirty Hearts have never been shy about their love for old-school rock’s glorious, unruly lineage, and their new single, ‘Slide,’ is a blistering, swagger-soaked dive right back into the deep end. Out today via long-time mates Near Enough Records, this track is the first taste of their forthcoming long player, ‘Third’, due to kick down doors in early 2026, and it’s a confident, uncompromising statement of intent.

The quartet, built on the talents of Holly Maddigan (Keys and Vocals), Luke Anderson (Drums), Matt Doe (Vocals and Guitar), and Mace McGregor (Bass), continue to operate in that sweet spot where sheer, raw power meets genuine emotional grit. While they freely channel the blues-drenched fuzz of Led Zeppelin, the minimalist bite of The White Stripes, and the hypnotic desert grooves of Queens of the Stone Age, the sound remains uniquely Dirty Hearts: immediate, lived-in, and bristling with soul.

‘Slide’ is built on a thunderous, instantly memorable guitar riff that wastes no time in grabbing you by the throat. It barrels forward with an urgency that proves this band knows exactly what they’re about and isn’t afraid to say it loud. Recorded and produced by Dan Sugars at Hunting Ground Studios (The Chats, Osaka Punch), the sound is urgent and unfiltered, giving maximum muscle to the track’s raw punch. The final sheen, courtesy of Joe Carra (Amyl and the Sniffers, King Gizzard), ensures that every riff lands with chest-rattling clarity.

Beneath the muscular exterior of Anderson and McGregor’s locked-in, forward-hurling rhythm section, the track retains the emotional depth we’ve come to expect from the band, particularly following their last introspective triumph, ‘Sunday Morning Anxiety’. Frontman Matt Doe’s vocals perfectly capture that tension, teetering between a snarl of bravado and a moment of confession, while Maddigan’s keys add a dark, sparkling counterpoint to the overall grit.

Following a long list of impressive live supports, including slots with legends like You Am I and Magic Dirt, ‘Slide’ signals a new, bolder, and more unhinged chapter. It’s Dirty Hearts at full throttle, and honestly, we’re ready to hear what comes next.

You can tune into the newly released single above, and for more, be sure to follow the band on Instagram and Facebook.
