Brooklyn’s Bushwick Princess Share A Reverberant Alt-Rock Triumph

Brooklyn alt-rock trio Bushwick Princess have delivered their most emotionally charged work to date with their fourth single, ‘Temkins’. Rooted in the quiet exasperation of a stalling relationship, the track navigates the murky waters of stubbornness, unspoken words, and compromised peace. Rather than resorting to overblown heartbreak tropes, it’s a track that bravely leans into the uncomfortable reality of accepting someone’s flaws just to keep the bond alive.

Frontman Matt Francini captures this complex emotional gridlock with a voice that effortlessly shifts between ghostly, delicate harmonies and rough-edged, mournful resonance. Backed by bassist and synth player Andrew Miller alongside drummer Kane Delaney, the trio weaves a dense tapestry of 90s alternative influences. Ethereal shoegaze layers and post-grunge grit bleed into one another, creating an atmosphere that feels both comfortably nostalgic and entirely fresh.

The arrangement itself mirrors the tension embedded in the lyrics. Angular guitars cut through heavy, pulsing bass lines, building into swirling walls of reverb that feel utterly immersive. Every sonically rich swell reflects the quiet frustration of watching potential slip away, giving voice to moments where pride and unexpressed feelings create distance between two people who still deeply care. Recorded independently in Francini’s Brooklyn flat, the track retains a raw, DIY authenticity while possessing a polished, hypnotic weight that demands repeated plays.

It is not a track built on neat closure, but rather on the messy, unspoken compromises that define long-term intimacy. Bushwick Princess said: “Sometimes being too close to someone prevents any real conversations or growth from happening, leading relationships to an impasse, stunted by stubbornness and too much shared experience. Sometimes, the best thing to do is find a way to accept their flaws and imperfections for exactly who they are and try to love them anyway, despite the hit to your pride in perhaps having to falsely admit you are wrong just to keep the relationship stronger in the long run. The song is an attempt to explore the sometimes-messy dynamics of deeply personal relationships.”

Serving as an impressive teaser for their upcoming EP, ‘Temkins’ secures Bushwick Princess’ position as one of New York’s most compelling rising indie acts. Keep up with Bushwick Princess’ latest releases and upcoming gigs by following them on Instagram, TikTok, and Spotify.
