There’s something different about TEETH MARKS. Maybe it’s the years of experience packed into every song, or maybe it’s the fact that this band was born after its members nearly walked away from music completely. Either way, the Columbus, Ohio five-piece has hit hard with their debut LP, 'RAISE / WRECK / REBUILD / RAZE', and 'Tin Soldiers' stands out as one of the record’s defining moments.
Made up of veteran musicians Brandon Woods, Jeremy Ebert, Joshua James, Petey Mendenhall, and Chris Heidel, TEETH MARKS blend 90s alternative rock, post-hardcore, indie rock, doomgaze, and gothic americana into something that feels both familiar and fresh. The songs carry real weight, the kind that only comes from years spent touring dive bars and clubs across the country.
'Tin Soldiers' captures everything the band does best. Quiet tension builds into huge bursts of sound while the lyrics dig into frustration with the systems that shape everyday life. Government, religion, politics, and economy. The song questions the people and structures that divide us while keeping power in the hands of the few. Even with heavy themes, the writing never feels forced or overcomplicated. The repeated references to metals like tin, silver, gold, platinum, and steel add an extra layer without turning the track into a gimmick.
The entire LP was recorded live in the band’s practice space using couches, box springs, and moving blankets as makeshift isolation booths. Minimal overdubs keep everything raw and immediate. What you hear is exactly what happened in the room.
That honesty is what makes TEETH MARKS work. They aren’t chasing trends or trying to manufacture emotion. They’re simply making the music they know how to make, and people are paying attention.
