Perth’s indie alt-rock trio Polly are keeping their foot firmly on the accelerator with the release of their searing new single, ‘Tell Your Friends’. Landing hot on the heels of their recent track ‘Doubt’, the new cut arrives alongside news of a headline tour and the official drop date for their upcoming EP, 'Maybe', arriving on 17 July.
The three-piece have spent the last few years quietly becoming one of the most reliable fixtures in Australia’s booming guitar scene. Backed by regular support from triple j and triple j Unearthed, they have carved out a space defined by driving rhythmic foundations and honest songwriting. This new track sharpens that approach, expertly capturing the heavy friction that exists between wanting to walk away and feeling completely anchored to someone.
Speaking on the emotional weight behind the track, the band share:
“‘Tell Your Friends’ is probably one of the more direct songs on the EP. It sits in that space of knowing you should move on from someone, but still being completely tied to them anyway. There’s frustration in it, but also a lot of contradictions. The chorus says one thing while the rest of the song almost fights against it. It’s become one of our favourite songs to play live because it really opens up in those bigger moments, and we’re super excited to finally take it on the road with us.”
Having previously sharpened their live edge while opening for massive homegrown heavyweights like Spacey Jane, Hockey Dad, and Teen Jesus and the Jean Teasers, Polly are more than ready to steer the ship on their own terms.
The upcoming headline run kicks off on 17 July with a celebratory hometown launch party in Perth, before the trio pack up the van to bring their energetic live show to audiences in Sydney, Wollongong, and Melbourne.
You can spin 'Tell Your Friends' right now on all major streaming platforms. Make sure to follow Polly on TikTok and Instagram to keep up with tour tickets and updates ahead of the 'Maybe' EP release this July.
