Geelong’s rising pop-rock force Lana Karlay has unveiled her latest offering, ‘Think it Through’, delivering a driving dose of sonic adrenaline that untangles the messy transition from helplessness to head-on confrontation. Built on heavy rotation potential and car-speaker catharsis, the track sees Karlay entirely unafraid to expose the raw friction of watching someone you love settle for the wrong person. It captures that volatile blend of wanting to snap them into reality while acknowledging your own deep emotional investment.
Rather than shrinking into the background, the Australian singer-songwriter injects the narrative with a potent momentum, turning spiralling thoughts into an absolute anthem. Reflecting on the track, Karlay shares:
“It feels frustrating, messy and a bit chaotic, that feeling of wanting to shake them and say ‘wake up you deserve better’. At the same time, there’s that selfish emotional side too, because you care more than you probably should. It’s direct, unforgiving and very much a scream it in the car kind of song.”
The track was born in Los Angeles during a rapid 17-day school-holiday trip amidst her final year of high school. Flying across the Pacific with a singular focus to create, Karlay teamed up with Mason and Julez, an exciting Australian producer duo currently operating out of LA. To elevate the track's sonic landscape, she brought on industry heavyweight Mark Parfitt (Justin Bieber, Meghan Trainor, Kehlani), whose polishing gives the instrumentation a massive punch. Yet, through the towering production, Karlay’s commanding vocals remain the ultimate anchor.
“This song came together incredibly quickly, it was one of those sessions where everything just clicked,” she recalls. “By the end of the day, we all kind of looked at each other and knew we had something really special.”
Marking her eighth release since August last year, the track underscores Karlay's incredible work ethic as she refines her distinct musical footprint.
“If it were up to me, I’d probably release a song every day,” Karlay laughs. “This is actually my eighth release since August last year, but honestly, there are so many more songs sitting unreleased, half-finished, or still in demo form. Right now, I’m really focused on building my demos and catalogue, improving my songwriting and continuing to learn as much as possible.”
‘Think it Through’ is available now across all major streaming networks. Turn the volume up, add it to your playlists, and be sure to follow Lana Karlay on Instagram and TikTok to stay updated on her upcoming debut body of work.
