Brisbane's own indie-pop-rock sensation, Ixaras, has shared her most intimately charged single yet, 'Do U Like Girls?'. This track is a raw, energetic dive into personal discovery, arriving just as she embarks on her highly anticipated debut headline tour, with tickets in Sydney and Melbourne already snatched up, even prompting an additional Melbourne date to keep up with demand.
'Do U Like Girls?’ explores the journey of self-discovery in sexuality, challenging societal binaries and expectations, while also questioning how we perceive and assume the sexuality of others,” Ixaras reveals. The song stands as a powerful coming-of-age queer anthem, embracing the beautiful messiness of identity during adolescence. With her distinct blend of sharp guitar riffs, deeply felt lyrics, and catchy melodies, it translates those universal youthful queries into a moment of defiant joy and cathartic release.
At just seventeen, Ixaras has already carved out a unique niche in Australia's independent music landscape. Hailing from Brisbane, she's not just a genre-bending artist but also the visionary behind Anti-Dismal, a DIY record label and all-ages event platform dedicated to fostering inclusive, community-driven spaces in unconventional venues like skateparks and town halls. Her dual role as artist and organiser is underpinned by a firm belief that music should be accessible to everyone.
Adding another feather to her cap, Ixaras is currently hosting "Unearthed High Frequency" on triple j Unearthed, shining a spotlight on the 2025 edition of the competition that champions Australia's best high school-aged artists. With her proven talent for songwriting and performance, coupled with her passion for nurturing young creatives, Ixaras brings a genuine and dynamic energy to the airwaves.
To celebrate 'Do U Like Girls?', Ixaras will hit the road this July. The sold-out dates in Sydney and Melbourne, which led to an added Melbourne show, are testament to her burgeoning popularity. The tour kicks off on July 12 in Melbourne at The Espy, moves to Sydney’s Newtown Pride Centre on July 13, and concludes in Brisbane at the Triffid Beer Garden on July 20.
These all-ages shows, featuring support from Gordon’s Grandson and Jemzel on select dates, are a continuation of Ixaras’s dedication to creating safe, welcoming spaces for her growing fanbase, embodying the grassroots spirit that defines her artistry.
