Caroline Romano Finds Her Feet in the Beautiful Chaos of Falling

Nashville’s own Caroline Romano is no stranger to the hustle of the music city, but her latest move feels like a significant shift in gear. The Mississippi-born songwriter has officially pulled back the curtain on her upcoming EP, 'it took me falling', scheduled to land on 13 March. To bridge the gap, she has shared 'Unsteady', a single that serves as a quiet, flickering lamp in the often-noisy landscape of modern alt-pop.

Following the trail blazed by recent releases like the gritty 'Cruel and Unusual Punishment' and the atmospheric 'Up the Stairs', 'Unsteady' leans into a more delicate territory. It is a track defined by its restraint, relying on a plucky guitar melody and Romano’s signature breathy vocals to carry the weight of its message. Rather than hiding behind heavy production, the song feels like a handwritten note tucked into a coat pocket—personal, slightly fragile, and deeply sincere.

Reflecting on the inspiration behind the track, Romano shares, “It’s a song about falling in love and letting yourself do it. I’ve learned that love has made me soft and brave and terrified and happy, and so much more myself in ways I never knew before. I wanted to capture that discovery in ‘Unsteady.’”

This sense of self-discovery acts as the anchor for the entire 6-track project. 'it took me falling' is positioned as a vivid snapshot of personal growth and resilience, capturing the beautiful chaos of finding yourself. The EP looks to explore the exhaustive search for a person, a dream, or a love, acknowledging the inevitable aches that usually arrive before anything meaningful takes root.

Romano has been on a persistent upward trajectory since her expansive 16-track debut, 'Oddities and Prodigies', in 2022. Having spent the last year winning over crowds while supporting the likes of Grayscale and Smallpools, she has proven herself a shapeshifter who can pivot from misty-eyed ballads to high-octane rock anthems without breaking a sweat.

Fans in Nashville won’t have to wait long to hear the new material in its natural habitat. Caroline will be celebrating the EP’s arrival with a headline show at The End on 13 March, joined by special guests Valories and Cam Becker. If 'Unsteady' is any indication, it’s going to be a night where vulnerability takes centre stage.
