Callum Padgham’s Debut Single Is An Absolute 'Blessing'

Melbourne-based artist Callum Padgham has officially stepped out from behind the decks (where he was previously known as 'DJ Be Kind to Other People') to release his spectacularly sunny debut single, ‘Everything is a Blessing’. This isn’t just a catchy pop song; it’s a shot of pure, unadulterated optimism served with a beat you can’t ignore, reminding us that even the trickiest parts of life hold a lesson.

The track is an immediate earworm, radiating an infectious, feel-good energy. Interestingly, the song came to Callum almost entirely formed while swimming laps at a local pool. The concept was so clear that he describes the sound as a joyous collision: “I remember feeling the sunshine on my back, endorphins pumping and repeating the chorus hook to myself whilst underwater. In that moment, it felt like my embodied truth. As soon as I returned home, I began fleshing it out on an acoustic guitar and within a few hours I sent an iPhone demo to Tom Evans, an amazing producer and close friend of mine, who loved how clear my vision was. In my head, it sounded like S Club 7 meets Ben Lee at a Himalayan yogi retreat, and through Tom’s craftsmanship plus my guidance and the brilliant work of some dream collaborators, we somehow pulled off exactly that!”

Accompanying the radiant audio is a truly stunning and hugely ambitious official music video, which landed on Thursday 13th November. Inspired by the legendary creative rockers OK Go, Padgham committed to filming a complex, single-shot-style sequence over the course of a year. The goal? To visually represent the idea of "everything" by capturing the changing seasons in one iconic Melbourne park.

This logistical feat was definitely no simple weekend shoot. Padgham reflected on the challenge, stating: “With the help of some creative mates, I embarked on the toughest logistical challenge of my life: filming a choreographed routine in the same iconic Melbourne park on a perfect Summer’s day, a rainy arvo in winter, a windy day in Autumn and the darkest depths of night!... I’m not gonna lie, locking-down 10 crew-members and 4 cast-members for 4 outdoor shoots, weather-dependent, plus dance rehearsals, over a 9 month period, was no ‘walk in the park’…”

The resulting video is a powerful testament to the message of perseverance and gratitude at the heart of the song. ‘Everything is a Blessing’ is a phenomenal launch for the artist, blending perfectly executed pop hooks with genuine, deep-seated creative vision. It signals the start of what promises to be an exciting chapter for one of Melbourne’s most enthusiastic new voices.
