Having begun his songwriting journey at twelve years old, the Motor City native was originally shaped by local Motown sounds before stretching his palette across a wider genre spectrum. Over a career spanning more than twenty years—including time releasing material under the moniker Page1 and founding the Detromental movement—he has consistently poured his lived experiences straight into his output.
The foundation of ‘143’ sits squarely on a relaxed, atmospheric groove, giving the vocal delivery room to breathe. That open space feels intentional. Having navigated deep personal losses in the eighties and nineties, alongside a pivotal period of reflection during a federal prison sentence, Bro Kendricks El underwent a major shift in his outlook through his connection with the Moorish Science Temple of America.
