There is something inherently exciting about a band that knows exactly who they are from the first note. April Again might be relatively fresh faces on the UK alt-rock circuit, but the maturity and sheer sonic weight they bring to the table suggest a project with far deeper roots. Formed by musicians in their early 30s, the group bypasses the usual "growing pains" of a new act, instead delivering a polished blend of heavy-edged alternative rock that feels ready for the big stages.
Now, the band reaches a definitive milestone with the release of their self-titled debut EP, April Again, spearheaded by the lead single ‘Getaway’. Recorded in Whitstable with renowned producer Ian Sadler, ‘Getaway’ serves as the project’s emotional anchor. While previous tracks established their knack for huge choruses and brooding atmosphere, this latest offering pushes into darker, more restless territory. The song is anchored by a distorted, driving bassline that feels like a physical pulse, providing a gritty foundation for the band’s signature melodic sensibilities.
Lyrically, the track is a raw exploration of chronic pain, burnout, and the desperate, often terrifying, urge to disappear. It captures that claustrophobic headspace where the desire for a fresh start is complicated by the fear of the unknown. As the band puts it, it’s about “the feeling of chasing freedom while realising the things meant to protect you can also trap you.”
The musical arrangement mirrors this internal conflict; guitars bend into uncomfortable, uneasy notes before snapping back to reality, while the choruses shift tempo to heighten the sense of panic. When the repeated refrain “I feel unsafe” hits, it’s a moment of stark vulnerability that lingers long after the feedback fades.
Since they started dropping tracks in August 2025, the momentum has been nothing short of relentless. With over 45,000 streams across their early catalogue, including fan favourites like ‘In My Mind’ and ‘Circles’, along with a TikTok following of over 7,500, April Again have bypassed the slow burn in favour of a rapid ascent. Even BBC Introducing has taken notice, granting them multiple spins, while Keep It Rock recently tipped ‘In My Mind’ as a legitimate Song of the Year contender.
With a second EP already in the bag and a follow-up single due in March, April Again aren't just making music—they’re building a legacy. You can stream the new track and EP today, and for more, join the band on Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok.
