Ziggy Alberts Strikes a Bold Chord on Seventh Album ‘Twin Flames’

Australian singer-songwriter Ziggy Alberts is plunging into uncharted sonic waters with his seventh studio record, 'Twin Flames', released today. Fresh off an immense global tour, the fiercely independent artist merges his trademark surf-folk roots with a lush Americana twist, teaming up once again with longtime producer Garrett Kato.

The album features introspective tracks like ‘Big Black Dog’, ‘I Blame Myself’, and the soaring new standout single ‘Valerie’. Community remains at the absolute core of his ethos, highlighted by highly interactive launch events worldwide:

"I’ve been saying recently that people need music, but musicians need people. It’s easy for all of us to feel isolated, living our modern lives, and doing these super intimate events with long-time listeners was an opportunity for me to understand what matters most to these core supporters. It also gave them a chance to ask questions that never get answered on stage. Adding the dimensionality of shared experience, running together, surfing together, drinking coffee together, I think helps us as musicians and music lovers become more than numbers on a screen. I was blown away by some of the questions, and the most endearing outcome was people who arrived to these events as strangers and left as friends."

This profound sense of human connection bleeds directly into the music. Speaking on his creative evolution, Alberts explains:

"I recorded this album almost two years ago, in between two world tours and before my last album came out (something I won't do again, haha). On track 10, I wrote the lyrics ‘twin flames, sand white dunes’ before I knew what I'd name the album. When I looked up what 'Twin Flames' meant, it felt like the perfect way to describe the feeling of the album; unexplained connection between people. Sometimes you meet a stranger, or you arrive at the same place as someone you never expected to, and there’s a connection you can’t quite explain. This album is about those curious connections we have with other people and places, and it asks a lot of questions along the way."
