Thad Saajid Returns with Neo-Soul Grooves on 'Recurring Character'

Alabama-based neo-soul talent Thad Saajid is back, bringing a fresh blend of alternative R&B and jazz on his newest track, 'Recurring Character'. Set to drop on 27 October 2026, the single gives listeners their first real taste of his forthcoming full-length record, ‘Get Ready With Me’, which is slated for release in March 2027.

Musically, the track weaves together light, funk-laced instrumentation and sweeping vocal harmonies, all underpinned by a free-flowing jazz energy and resonant brass sections. Lyrically, Saajid digs into the relatable frustration of dealing with familiar faces and cyclical habits that simply refuse to fade away. He sums up this emotional tug-of-war perfectly with the poignant refrain, "You ain’t gotta go, but you can’t stay, in my mind".

The wider album promises to explore the beautiful reality of maturing, learning from daily experiences, and understanding the vital relationships that mould us. Operating out of Florence, Alabama, Saajid has built a reputation for intertwining his musical talent with his deep passion for the culinary arts. Having previously garnered widespread praise for releases like his album ‘Trash Talk’, this next chapter sees the independent artist pushing his creative boundaries even further.

To celebrate the upcoming release, Saajid is hosting an exclusive event dubbed ‘GRWM: A Table for Becoming’ in his hometown on 12 November. This intimate evening pairs a complete album playback with five courses of New Orleans and Southern-inspired cuisine, complete with curated wine pairings. Attendees are encouraged to stay after dinner for an open discussion regarding independent artistry and the creation of the record. A portion of the ticket proceeds will be donated to Soul Music Preservation Inc., helping to sustain the culture that makes these community experiences possible.

Be sure to pre-save ‘Get Ready With Me’ and stream 'Recurring Character' on your preferred platforms from 27 October. You can follow the artist on Facebook and Instagram, or visit his website to secure tickets to the November dinner.
