Kita Alexander Is Unleashing the Warmth of 'RAGE'

Kita Alexander is refusing to play nice anymore. Following a whirlwind period that included opening for Dua Lipa and securing multiple ARIA nominations, the Byron Bay indie-pop sensation has returned with her eagerly awaited second album, 'RAGE', out now via Warner Music Australia.

While the title might suggest a collection of aggressive, heavy-hitting anthems, Alexander approaches the concept with a surprising amount of warmth. The record serves as a sonic unburdening, documenting her choice to move past the traditional social pressures placed upon women to remain quiet and agreeable. By looking inward, she reframes a traditionally avoided emotion as a tool for personal evolution.

“Rage has been the catalyst of positive change in my life over the last couple of years,” Alexander explains. “The album is about an emotion I’ve always had but never understood. It’s me looking at it and embracing it as a new friend and realising that I don’t have to shut it down or avoid looking at it. Rage has helped me find what truly matters to me and to change my life in ways that work for me.”

Musically, the 12-track project steps away from standard digital synth-pop, favouring an organic, 70s-inspired palette. Captured live at Rockinghorse Studios alongside producer Chris Collins, the tracking process prioritised real instrumentation to guarantee the songs would pop on stage. This grounded approach is elevated by a stellar line-up of co-writers, including PJ Harding, Ehren Ebbage, and Shungudzo Kuyimba.

A prime example of this lively energy is the new single ‘Worth It’, which recently premiered on triple j. The track mixes an infectious, funk-driven bassline with completely transparent storytelling.

"I’ve become a girl who, since the first song on this record, has acknowledged that it’s okay to not be easy and palatable," says Alexander. "It’s okay to be difficult and kick up a stink, It’s worth opening my mouth. It’s worth saying something. The result is, if both people in the relationship are voicing their feelings then change can come, things can get better."

Alexander is taking these new tracks global with an extensive headline tour starting in Melbourne this September, before heading across Europe and the UK in October.

You can stream 'RAGE' on all major platforms now and watch the official music video for ‘Worth It’ on YouTube. Keep up with tour updates and future announcements by following Kita Alexander on Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, and X.
