With a wry smile and a resolute confidence, New York City’s Geese have once again ripped up the blueprint, unleashing their highly anticipated third studio album, 'Getting Killed'. Released via Partisan Records, the new record is a masterful and manic exercise in dismantling conventional rock structures, and it’s a brilliant payoff. Following their critically acclaimed 2021 debut 'Projector' and the subsequent swagger of 2023’s '3D Country', the band has veered into uncharted territory, creating a sound that is as chaotic as it is cohesive.
The album’s early singles gave us a taste of the barrage to come. 'Taxes', the accidental 'Trinidad', and '100 Horses' were met with a storm of praise, described as “akin to an exorcism” by Alternative Press, “a tear-duct-cleansing release” by NYLON, and “unfettered euphoria” by Rolling Stone. This barrage of sounds isn't a mess, though. It's a precisely crafted pandemonium, with each member of the band—Cameron Winter, Emily Green, Dominic DiGesu, and Max Bassin—operating in stunning synchronicity. The production by renowned producer Kenneth Blume, working with the band over a month-long stretch, captures this live-wire energy without sanding down any of the raw edges.
The album’s release follows a rapid and winding journey for the band. After Winter’s lauded and mildly befuddling solo debut, 'Heavy Metal', many speculated about his future with Geese. Yet, his creative expedition only served to fuel the band’s new sound, bringing a newfound depth and idiosyncratic vision to his voice.
Far from overshadowing his bandmates, Winter’s solo work seems to have pushed the entire group to grow. The band is a formidable unit, with the rhythm section providing a funky, motorik backbone that pushes and pulls with the same nervous excitement found in Winter's vocals.
As 'Getting Killed' cements its place in the modern rock canon, the band is setting their sights on the world. The ‘Getting Killed Tour’ has been a massive success, with the majority of their headline dates across North America already sold out. The European leg of the tour kicks off in March 2026, and to the delight of their overseas fans, Geese are also slated to make their Australian and New Zealand debuts at Laneway Festival in 2026, while Cameron Winter will be bringing his solo sounds to Auckland, Sydney, and Melbourne in February 2026.
