Sydney's live music scene has been quietly cultivating a spectacular talent in Anika Joshi, a singer-songwriter seamlessly blurring the edges of pop, jazz, and neo-soul. Even before capturing the attention of Australian taste-makers, the Sydney-based artist was turning heads across the UK and US with her rich, velvety vocals. Now, fresh off the back of her debut EP, 'Radiance', cracking the 100,000 streams milestone, Joshi is giving listeners a gorgeous new window into her musical world.
Just a few days ago, Anika unveiled a cinematic live session video for her standout single, "Orion's Belt", produced in collaboration with Burning Pictures. Shot in a modest local hall beautifully reimagined with hazy, amber lighting and vintage textures, the video translates the song’s stellar romance into something deeply tactile and immediate.
Inspired by the quiet romance of stargazing with someone you love, 'Orion’s Belt' captures the feeling of becoming completely immersed in another person. The track has already won over international critics, with Nicole Mendes of The Other Side Reviews praising how it “saunters into old-school soul meets jazz vibes, with the sultry silkiness of Sade, as well as a more contemporary breath of neo-soul.”
Backed by an elite full band featuring musicians who have shared stages with Boy Soda and Anieszka, the live session highlights Joshi’s commanding yet effortless vocal delivery. Having already cut her teeth supporting the likes of WILSN and Joel Leggett at packed venues like Mary’s Underground and Oxford Art Factory, this performance captures the exact energy that makes her one of Sydney's most exciting indie exports.
With a brand new project slated for 2027 alongside producer Jai Sparks, Joshi's trajectory is pointed straight up.
