Melbourne's own indie darlings, Soup On Tap, have officially blossomed. The band, formerly known as Middle St, is back with a fresh new single, 'Peach Tree', and we’ve got the exclusive music video premiere right here, right now. While the video officially drops tomorrow, you can watch it and listen to the track today exclusively below!
'Peach Tree' is a deeply personal and universally resonant piece of guitar-driven introspection. It’s a candid coming-of-age anthem that navigates the choppy waters of vulnerability and self-honesty when you're embarking on a new relationship.
Frontman Oscar Dean explains the inspiration behind the track: "The lyrics were written around the idea of starting a new relationship and the fear and anxieties that come along with that. It’s a story about how the best way to portray yourself is to confront all the internal fear and self-doubt, start at level one, be honest with what you want. At the end of the day, it’s a song about being your best self."
The single, recorded at the esteemed Grove Studios and produced by the band and Jackson Weibe, is a warm and compelling mix of gritty optimism and melodic charm. It’s a tapestry of melodic synths, a rock-solid rhythm section, and a raw, emotive vocal performance that weaves together the band's diverse influences, from the raucous energy of Violent Soho to the melodic sensibilities of Twin Peaks and Parcels, and even the timeless artistry of David Bowie.
You can stream the video above ahead of the official release tomorrow, and for more, be sure to catch up with Soup On Tap on Facebook, Instagram, and Bandcamp.
