Lilith Gaze Shares The Haunting World of ‘Night’s Confession’

Hailing from England but now soaking up the sun in Australia, Lilith Gaze is an artist who refuses to stay in one lane. Known to many as a YouTube creator and writer, Lilith Gaze has recently pivoted into the music world with a debut that is as enigmatic as their online persona. The transition from video scripts to songwriting has birthed a sound that is unapologetically pop at its core, yet draped in the kind of dark, intimate lyricism that stays with you long after the final note.

Armed with the brand-new EP, ‘Night’s Confession’, the project is exploring the intersection of modern decay and the search for connection. This isn't your typical polished pop product; it’s a genre-fluid project born from a desire to challenge the restrictive nature of the modern music industry. We sat down with the creator to chat about the shift from YouTube to the studio, the influence of cult cinema, and why chasing followers isn't always the path to success.

Thank you for joining us today! Your journey to music seems a sudden and almost spontaneous one. When did you first really focusing on music, and what inspired you to start?

“Last year. I wanted to express my love for music and experimenting that I’d mostly put into YouTube videos.”

You’ve released a few EPs so far. Can you tell us a bit about the project and what Lilith Gaze is?

“It’s a genre-fluid project by a guy wanting to write music from a feminine perspective, in a time when music is being restricted by TV producers in talent shows.”

Were there any artists, moments, or experiences that influenced you when creating the release?

“It started off from writing a song about ‘Saw’ with a Faith No More vibe. I went into the city after to be around live music, and I was inspired by musicians like Saint Avangeline as well.”

‘Night’s Confession’ was released last year and is our first introduction to the project. How would you describe the sound on the EP?

“Very pop, alternative. Someone trying to find their sound in their early stages of music making.”

What was your songwriting process? How did it all come together?

“I did the lyrics in the notes section of my phone first. Then I did a lot of demo versions of the music trying to find the right genre and sound. Finding the right vocalist put it all together.”

Was there a central message or theme you were trying to convey in this EP?

“Modern decay and the search for love in a numb world.”

What is the most important thing to you when you’re writing a song?

“That I think outside the box and write with musicians in mind that inspire me, instead of following the current trends to have a bottom layer to start from.”

Do you have any advice for bands and artists who are just starting out and trying to make their mark?

“Focus on the music you create and how to get yourself out there to actually play live, instead of living in the mindset that all you need to be successful is ‘X’ amount of streams and ‘X’ amount of followers.”

What has been your best moment as a musician so far, and what has the reception been like?

“It's been surprising so far to see the fanbase. To know that your music is finding a mainly female audience, when that’s what you wanted.”

Is there anything you would like to say to our audience, and how can they support you?

“Without this sounding needy, I’m unsigned currently. I’d love to find a label to fund future releases and go on tour.”

With ‘Night’s Confession’, Lilith Gaze has proven that the leap from content creator to recording artist is one paved with genuine creative risk and reward. By blending a Faith No More edge with a feminine lyrical perspective, the EP stands as a bold statement against the cookie-cutter tracks often found on the charts today.

Whether you’re a longtime follower from the YouTube days or a new fan of dark pop, this is an artist whose evolution is well worth watching as they search for the right label to take these haunting melodies on the road.
