Thank you for stopping by to chat about your new EP. Before we dig into that, let’s take it back. When did you first start making music? Where did it all begin, and what inspired you?
“I started creating music out of a home studio in Vallejo, California by a producer named Philly blunts.”
Your new EP, ‘Notes From the Heart’, came out a few days ago. Can you tell us a bit about your latest release and what it means to you?
“My latest release the best most personal project I’ve ever created. It was created like magic from scratch in the moment and means everything to me. It helped me get through some challenges in my life and has served as a beacon of hope that dreams can come true.”
Were there any artists, moments, or experiences that influenced you when writing the release?
“Brandy, Jazmine Sullivan, and Keyshia Cole have influenced my writing through their raw talent and vocal note choices. I listen to their music and think I want to perform on a song like that. What they say in their songs is so relatable I can’t help but be inspired.”
What was your songwriting process for the new EP? How did it all come together?
“My song writing process starts with a concept, I have a conversation with my best friend we share our thoughts with our producer and collective we develop our melodies and lyrics. We may listen to other artist for inspiration to get in the groove it’s actually very seamless formula that we have developed, and I love! My time in the booth is everything.”
How would you describe the sound on the new EP? And do you think that sound has really developed over time?
“My sound is heavy and emotional; it pulls every part of me to deliver my notes efficiently to my listeners. Has there been a change or evolution in style since you first began? I have absolutely evolved during this project, I’m the type of vocalist that likes to leave no crumbs on the table, not a dry eye in the building. This project has taught me restraint and resilience in my vocals proves to be my effective in my ability and leaves room to add me in my live performances.”
Is there a central message or theme you were trying to convey in your latest release? Is there a moment in the release that really captures that idea?
“My message on the release is to lean into the magic that God has given. Share your notes from your heart, you never know who is listening and who needs to hear your voice.”
“When we recorded ‘Bloom Again’ everything came full circle, I needed to write a love song to myself, I needed to reflect on the bumps and bruises throughout this journey to show myself how amazing I could be, I fall down but I always get back up stronger and more powerful.”
What sort of reception have you had to your latest release? Are there any memorable moments that stand out?
“The reception is amazing. Everyone loves it. Everyone. I’m flooded with love and appreciation. It’s been awesome. My EP release party and birthday was a movie. It was the most memorable amazing experience I could ever ask for people came out and supported me in the most astounding way.”
Looking ahead, what are your aspirations as an artist? Where do you see yourself in the next few years, both musically and personally?
“I aspire to tour, I need to take the show on the road, I hope my team is ready. I’ve learned what I speak always comes to fruition. I see myself on stages across the world immersing myself in my purpose. The gift is both personal and musical they are no difference.”
Now the EP is out, the big questions is, what’s next? Do you have any new releases or shows on the horizon?
