RC Burkk, a rising artist who burst onto the music scene in 2020, is well on his way to becoming an independent icon. What started as a personal journey of self-validation during the quiet confines of lockdown has blossomed into a vibrant career focused on entertaining others.
RC Burkk's innate musicality, nurtured from a young age, finally found its outlet thanks to the encouragement of friends. In this interview, we'll dig into his origins, discuss his latest track ‘Horndog’, and explore the evolving influences that shape his unique sound.
It’s great to chat with you today! When did you first start making music? Where did it all begin, and what inspired you?
“I started making music in 2020 during Covid when in that time I had some friends motivating me to start actually trying it out myself after spending my whole life already being super musically inclined. I think self-validation is why I started, but now it’s for other people’s entertainment.”
You have a new single out, and it’s been making some big waves online. Can you tell us a bit about it and what it means to you?
“My latest release is a track called ‘Horndog’ with my buddy Nate that goes by NMAN featured on it. He brought up the idea to make it so I could try a drill beat which I was very down for, but we had a lot of fun making it and I’ll always have good memories behind it.”
Are there any artists, moments, or experiences that influenced you when writing the new single?
“For me, I used to be very impacted and influenced by XXXTENTACION, Juice WRLD, Ski Mask, Lil Uzi, Eminem, and $uicideboy$. But I grew more into music. Now I look at myself and think, I’m inspired by seeing tons of new growth and improvement in myself, RC Burkk’s music.”
Short and to the point, it was a real pleasure catching up with RC Burkk and hearing about his journey. From those early lockdown beats to collaborating with fellow artists, his dedication to growth and self-improvement truly shines through.
