A band built on authenticity and connection, Avendetta have been making waves in the rock scene with a sound that’s both raw and relatable. Hailing from Colorado, the band is gearing up for the official release of their latest single, ‘I Know You Know’, on August 22nd this year. The single marks the next step in Avendetta’s expansion, with plans to bring their high-energy sound to new audiences in California soon.
Avendetta is a band whosemusic feels like it’s speaking directly to you. Their lyrics touch on everyday highs and lows, but never in a way that feels tired. Every chord tells a story and every show is a celebration of what it means to be real, together. It is this unique quality that has caught the attention of major music executives and secured the band's place on the rock radar. We recently sat down with Avendetta to talk about where it all began, their songwriting process, and the inspiration behind their latest release.
Thanks so much for stopping by guys. When did you first start making music? Where did it all begin, and what inspired you?
“We started writing our own music when we were really young — around 11 or 12 years old. Back then, it wasn’t about chasing a scene or trying to fit into a sound; it was about the journey from nothing to something. There’s something powerful about creating something out of thin air and then having it exist in the world for others to connect with. Music felt larger than life to us — a way to express who we are, yet at the same time, it becomes something bigger than any one of us. It’s a piece of us, but it also transcends us, and that shared connection is what’s kept us writing ever since.”
Your new single is primed for release later this month. Can you tell us a bit about it and what it means to you?
“This release feels like opening the door and finally letting the world in on something we’ve been building for a long time. ‘I Know You Know’ comes out on August 22, and it isn’t just ours anymore — it’s for everyone who hears it and finds their own story in the lyrics. For us, the meaning grows when we see people connecting with it in their own way. That’s the heart of Avendetta: creating something real that starts with our experiences but becomes a shared moment between us and the listener.”
What was your songwriting process for the release? How did it all come together?
“We rewrote the song four times. The process for ‘I Know You Know’ stretched over six months, and it pushed us in the best way possible. Each time we thought we had something, our mentor and producer, Elan Morrison, would remind us that just because something was good, doesn't mean it was best for the song.”
“We weren't just chasing something good, we were chasing something undeniable. That became our standard — the idea that a song shouldn’t just work; it should feel inevitable, like it couldn’t exist any other way. When we finally landed on that version, there was this shift in the room — an energy that told us we’d found exactly what the song needed to be.”
Is there a central message to the new single, and is there a moment in the release that really captures that idea or feeling?
“The central message of ‘I Know You Know’ is about the lasting, unspoken connections between people — those moments and feelings that linger even when words fail or paths diverge. It’s about two people who share the same emotions but can’t quite let go of what they once had. That tension between holding on and moving forward is what drives the song. The soaring chorus really captures this idea — it’s where the emotions swell and the story reaches its emotional peak, pulling listeners into that shared experience of connection, loss, and the bittersweet weight of memory.”
Where there any specific moments or experiences that really influenced you when you were first starting to write the track?
“The inspiration for ‘I Know You Know’ came from that unspoken connection you still feel with someone you no longer talk to. It’s about two people who feel the same but can’t let go of what they once had — the quiet weight of shared history and how, even when the words stop, the bond doesn’t completely fade. For us, it’s less about a single story and more about that universal, lingering feeling that ties into Avendetta’s core — music that speaks to real, everyday emotions in a way people can feel deep down.”
How would you describe the sound of ‘I Know You Know,’ and has there been a change or evolution in style since you first began writing music?
“The sound of ‘I Know You Know’ is atmospheric and immersive, built to pull you in from the first note. It has punchy guitar riffs, driving drums, and a soaring chorus that sticks with you long after it’s over. It feels big and cinematic but still grounded in the raw, honest energy that defines Avendetta. We’ve stayed true to our rock roots from the very beginning, but with every new song we write, including ‘I Know You Know’ dropping on August 22, we continue to evolve and push ourselves creatively. This release feels like just the start of the next chapter for us — building on the raw energy and honesty that define Avendetta, while exploring new sounds and deeper emotions along the way.”
Looking ahead, what are your aspirations as an artist? Where do you see yourself in the next few years, both musically and personally?
“Looking ahead, we’re excited to expand our reach, with plans to play shows in California very soon. Musically, we have two more singles lined up that will lead into a full album release. Within the next year, our goal is to be touring regularly, connecting with new audiences, and growing our presence beyond Colorado. On a personal level, we want to continue maturing as songwriters, musicians, and performers — pushing ourselves to dig deeper emotionally and refine our craft. For us, this journey is as much about growth and connection as it is about the music itself.”
What's next once the single is out? Do you have any new releases or shows on the horizon?
“After this release, we’ve got two more songs already recorded that really showcase our versatility as a band. We plan to release them strategically, each one highlighting a different side of our sound. Meanwhile, we’re continuing to write new material — always pushing ourselves to evolve and keep things fresh. We’re also gearing up for more live shows, including plans to expand beyond Colorado soon. The momentum we’ve built with ‘I Know You Know’ is just the beginning.”
What sort of reception have you had to your latest release? Are there any memorable moments that stand out?
“We played ‘I Know You Know’ live for the first time on August 1st at a large, packed venue, and the response from the crowd was incredible — it felt like a real celebration of what our music is all about: raw energy and honest connection. Beyond the live shows, we’ve also received enthusiastic feedback from several successful and well-known people in the music industry who have expressed genuine love for the song. With the official release coming on August 22nd, we really feel like this is our moment to step onto a bigger stage and reach new audiences.”
Is there anything you would like to say to our audience? How can they connect with you and help support you?
“We’re so grateful for everyone who’s been following our journey so far. Our music is all about real connections, and the best way to support us right now is to pre-save ‘I Know You Know’ ahead of its August 22 release. That helps us get our song out to more ears and grow our community. You can also connect with us on social media, come out to our shows, and share the music with your friends. Every bit of support means the world to us — we’re building something special together, and we want you to be part of it.”
While Avendetta's story is still being written, their journey so far has become a testament to the power of raw emotion and honest songwriting. As the band continues to evolve, their commitment to creating shared moments remains at the heart of their music. They aren't just making songs; they are creating connections, one riff at a time.
