Ashir on Love, Longing, and His Emotive New Single 'Kia Tum Hoge'

Since embarking on his musical path in 2014, Pakistani singer, composer, and independent artist Ashir has carved out a niche for himself with his deeply emotive, romantic, and soul-stirring compositions. Drawing upon themes of love, distant memories, and profound human emotion, his music strikes a resonant chord with listeners seeking genuine vulnerability. His latest offering, the single 'Kia Tum Hoge', released in April 2026, continues this artistic trajectory—delving into separation, devotion, and the bittersweet uncertainty of everlasting affection.

In this exclusive interview, we sit down with Ashir to explore the foundational moments of his career, his personal songwriting process, and the collaborative dynamics that shaped his new track. We also discuss his milestone partnership as the flagship artist for music label and event management pioneering company EGTEVENT, along with his future aspirations within the evolving global music landscape.

Hi Ashir, thank you so much for joining us today! When did you first start making music? Where did it all begin, and what inspired you?

“I started making music around 2014, although my interest in music began a few years earlier. I was always drawn to emotional melodies and songs that could express feelings that are sometimes difficult to put into words. That connection with music inspired me to start writing, composing and creating my own songs. Over time, music became not just a passion for me, but a way to express emotions, stories and experiences.”

“Alongside my music journey, I graduated from the University of Galway in Ireland with a qualification in Marketing. I also started working with music labels and other songwriters, which gave me opportunities to collaborate, learn and explore different sides of the music industry. As the first person in my family to pursue music professionally, I began producing my own music and developed my journey as a singer, composer and independent artist.”

Can you tell us a bit about your latest release, 'Kia Tum Hoge', and what it means to you?

“The song is a deeply emotional song that I wrote from the perspective of someone who loves their partner deeply and wants to be with them forever. The story is about the fear that one day life will come to an end, but the love between two people will still remain.”

“Through the song, I ask a simple but deep question: if one day I am no longer alive, will you still be with me in another life? As humans, we know that we cannot live forever, but when we truly love someone, we wish we could spend every life together. I wanted to express that feeling through the song—the desire for a love that continues beyond this life. I wrote and composed ‘Kia Tum Hoge’ to capture that deep emotion and turn it into a melody that people can connect with through their own experiences of love.”

Were there any particular writers or life experiences that influenced you during the creation of this single?

“One of the people who influenced me while writing “Kia Tum Hoge” was Saleem Shahid, a writer with many years of life experience. Whenever we talk and share our thoughts about life, relationships and the people who come into our lives, it often gives me new ideas and brings different emotions to the surface.”

“Our conversations and experiences became an important inspiration for the story behind the song. I was particularly inspired by the way we both see love, life and relationships from different perspectives. These conversations helped me turn those thoughts and feelings into the story and emotions of ‘Kia Tum Hoge’.”

How does your songwriting and composition process usually work from initial idea to finished track?

“I feel blessed that stories and ideas naturally come into my mind. Usually, I start with a thought, an emotion or a story, and then I begin writing it down. Once I have the main idea, I work with other writers to develop and improve the story and lyrics while keeping the original emotion behind it.”

“For ‘Kia Tum Hoge’, the story came first, and then the melody and composition developed around those emotions. I wanted every part of the song to feel connected to the story and express the feeling of wanting to stay with someone forever.”

You released 'Kia Tum Hoge' under EGTEVENT, one of the first event management companies in Türkiye to expand as a label by signing artists and providing music marketing services. How did this partnership come together?

“EGTEVENT started in 2020 as an event management company specialising in corporate events and concerts in Istanbul. The company’s owner, Mr. Önder Özkan, decided to take EGTEVENT in a new direction by expanding into music, signing artists and releasing music alongside its event management work.”

“EGTEVENT is among the first event management companies in Turkey to take this approach by signing and supporting artists. I became EGTEVENT’s first artist for its music marketing initiative.”

Looking ahead, what are your aspirations as an artist, both musically and personally?

“My aspiration is to continue creating music that connects with people emotionally and tells meaningful stories. I want to keep developing myself as a singer, composer and producer, while working with talented writers, musicians and labels from different backgrounds.”

“Over the next few years, I hope to release more original music, collaborate with other artists and continue growing my presence in the music industry. Personally, I want to keep learning, stay connected to my creativity and build a journey that feels authentic to who I am as an artist.”
